Product Description
Gentamicin Injection contains an amount of Gentamicin Sulfate equivalent to not less than 90.0percent and not more than 125.0percent of the labeled amount of gentamicin.It may contain suitable buffers,preservatives,and sequestering agents,unless it is intended for intrathecal use,in which case it contains only suitable tonicity agents.
Gentamycin is an antibiotic extracted from the fermentation liquid of Miermonospora perpurea it is usually used in the form of a stable salt-Gentamycin Sulphate.
Action
Gentamycin is broad-spectrum antibiotic strongly effective against Gramnegative bacillus. bacillus. pyocyaneus proteus. etc.
Intramuscular injection of Gentamycin sulphate results in peak serum levelabout 30 minutes after administration. Detectable serum level persists for 8-12 hours. Rate of exeretion through urine is about 78-81% in 24 hours.
Indications:
Gentamycin sulphate is chiefly indicated in acute and chronic infections caused by Bacillus coil. Bacillus pyocyaneus.
Dosage:
Usual dose for injection.
Adult: 80mg each time. 2-3 times daily. At intervals of 8 hours.
Children: 3-5mg/kg body weight daily, in two or three equally divided doses.
