Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) is a highly efficient phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardant with high phosphorus-nitrogen content, good thermal stability, formaldehyde-free, halogen-free, non-toxic, and no toxic substances produced during combustion. It is widely used in fire extinguishing agents, fire retardant coatings, flame retardant coatings, polymer material flame retardants, intumescent flame retardants and other fields. However, since ammonium polyphosphate is an inorganic polymer compound with hydrophilicity, it will absorb moisture in the air when stored in the air, and it is easy to absorb moisture and cause the ammonium polyphosphate to hydrolyze; and inorganic ammonium polyphosphate has poor compatibility with organic polymer materials, and it is easy to agglomerate during processing and cannot be evenly dispersed, which often makes the mechanical properties fail to meet the use requirements. In order to enable it to play a flame retardant role without affecting other properties of the material, its surface needs to be modified in many cases.
