Gravity Disc Filter

Design Principle:
The Gravity Disc relies on the natural gravitational settling of solids in the pulp. As the pulp flows over the disc surface, heavier solid particles settle to the bottom due to gravity, while the liquid passes through the filtration layer, achieving solid-liquid separation.

Technical Features:

1. Simple Structure:
   The Gravity Disc typically adopts an open design, using gravity to complete the filtration process. It does not require complex mechanical components or high-energy systems.

2. Low Cost:
   Due to its simple design and lack of need for additional energy or complex operational systems, the Gravity Disc is cost-effective in terms of both manufacturing and maintenance.

3. Limited Efficiency:
   The separation efficiency and precision of the Gravity Disc are limited, making it suitable only for low-concentration pulp. The filtration effect is heavily influenced by the pulp concentration and particle size.

4. Narrow Applicability:
   Due to its limited separation efficiency, the Gravity Disc is not suitable for high-concentration pulp or scenarios that require high filtration precision. Its use is primarily limited to coarse filtration and initial concentration processes.

5. Low Maintenance Requirements:
   The simple structure of the Gravity Disc ensures minimal maintenance, although periodic checks and cleaning are recommended to maintain filtration performance under heavy use.

Core Applications:

• Initial Pulp Concentration: The Gravity Disc is commonly used in the early stages of pulp processing to reduce the water content of the pulp and increase the concentration.
• Coarse Particle Filtration: It is used to remove larger solid particles from the pulp, suitable for coarse filtration of pulp with larger solid particles and lower concentration.
• Wastewater Treatment: In low-concentration wastewater treatment, the Gravity Disc can efficiently separate larger suspended solids, reducing the load on wastewater treatment systems.

Scope of Application:
The Gravity Disc is mainly suitable for low-concentration pulp, coarse particle filtration, and initial concentration stages. It works efficiently when the pulp is more dilute and contains larger solid particles but is not suitable for high-concentration pulp or situations where precise filtration is required. In such cases, other types of filter discs should be considered.
