Methacrylic acid is a colorless transparent liquid at room temperature. It is easily soluble in hot water, ethanol and most organic solvents. It is easy to polymerize. Its vapor can form an explosive mixture with air. It is moderately toxic and has strong irritation to the skin and mucous membranes, but it is not carcinogenic.
Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and rinse the skin thoroughly with soap and water.
Eye contact: Lift the eyelids and rinse with running water or saline. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation: Quickly leave the scene to a place with fresh air and keep the airway open. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, immediately perform artificial respiration and seek medical attention.
