Product Description
STI (Screw Thread Insert) Taps differ from standard taps dimensionally and only STI taps are suitable for use with wire thread inserts. They have a larger diameter but the same pitch as a standard tap in order to accommodate the wire thread insert.
STI taps are manufactured to precise standards from high speed steel (HSS) and are available with STI Roughing Tap, Straight Flute Tap, Spiral Flute Tap, STI Thredflod Roll Thread Tap and also we can accept Custom STI Taps (Inch and Metric Sizes)
STI Roughing Tap or Tapper
Are used for starting precision and difficult operations where it is desirable to reduce the load on the finishing tap. Available in sizes 12mm thru 24mm.
STI Straight Flute Taps
Widely used for general hand and machine tapping operations. Available in sizes up to 1-1/2" and metric size from M1.4 to M90.
STI Spiral Point Tap
Spiral Point Taps are recommended for machine tapping through holes. These taps provide for chip clearance within the lead of the tap.
STI Spiral Flute Tap is recommended for machine tapping for all blind hole applications, particularly in soft materials such as copper, magnesium and aluminium which produce long stringy swarf.
STI Thredflod Roll Thread Tap
This tap are designed for machine tapping in ductile materials with higher elasticity e.g. materials with a low silicon content, aliminium & some stainless steels. This tap is designed without flutes or cutting faces, but with special roll forming lobes. It has short
tapered leads for through or blind holes and is made from HSS.
Extra Long Shank STI Tap
This STI tap is especially designed for which require for an extra long shark to reach a deeper depth work condition.
