Allantoin is a pure non-toxic, tasteless, non-irritating, non-allergic white crystals.single prismatic crystal or colorless crystalline powder. Soluble in hot water, hot alcohol and dilute sodium hydroxide solution. Slightly soluble in room temperature water and alcohols, insoluble in organic solvents such as ether and chloroform; its saturated aqueous solution (concentration 0.6%) was slightly acidic; PH of 5.5. PH value is 4-9 in the aqueous solution stability. In the non-aqueous solvents and dry air is also stable; in strong alkaline solution boiling and is in direct sunlight can be broken down.
