Nature
Cobalt carbonate is a red monoclinic crystal or powder with a relative density of 4.13. Almost insoluble in water, alcohol, methyl acetate, and ammonia, soluble in acid. Heating at 400 ºC begins to decompose and release carbon dioxide. In the presence of air or weak oxidants, it gradually oxidizes into high cobalt carbonate.

Manufacturing method
Metal cobalt or cobalt containing waste reacts with hydrochloric acid to form cobalt chloride solution, which is then reacted with sodium carbonate to produce cobalt carbonate precipitate. After rinsing, centrifugal separation, and drying, the finished cobalt carbonate product is obtained.

Purpose
Cobalt carbonate is a raw material used in chemical production to produce other cobalt salts and cobalt oxide. It is used as a coloring agent in the ceramic industry, as a mineral processing agent in the mining industry, as a catalyst, camouflage coating, and chemical temperature indicator in the organic industry, as a trace element fertilizer in agriculture, and as an analytical reagent in analytical chemistry.
