Fenbendazole is an orally effective benzimidazole repellent with a wide range of antiparasitic activities. Fenbendazole is a microtubule destabilizer that acts on worms mainly by binding to tubulin and disrupting tubulin microtubule balance. Fenbendazole stabilizes transcription activator HIF-1α. Fenbendazole has effective anti-proliferative activity and induces apoptosis. Fenbendazole resulted in cell cycle arrest and mitotic cell death and had antitumor activity in wild-type p53 xenografted mice.
