The ALDH2 gene is located on human chromosome 12 and encodes two isomerases, aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 and nitroesterase. It is not only involved in the metabolism of nitroglycerin, but also related to the metabolism of alcohol in the human body.
Studies have shown that mutations at locus c.1510 of ALDH2 gene can reduce the activity of related metabolic enzymes.
