It is used as a filler in-home laundry detergent, in powder form. It can be used as a fining agent which helps to remove small air bubbles from the molten glass. Odorless, with a bitter and salty taste, odorless, and non-toxic. Easy to absorb three molecules of water in humid air. Soluble in water and glycerol, insoluble in alcohol. 3.6 Soluble in parts of water. The solubility is highest at 33 ºC (1:2), and decreases at higher temperatures. It is soluble in 2.4 parts of water at 100 ºC.
Application
1.Sodium sulfate is an important raw material for making glass and paper.
2.It is the largest in papermaking and cellulose industry, accounting for about 70% of the total.
3.Sodium sulfate is a component of synthetic detergent, it is a neutral salt, adding it can reduce the surface tension, increase the solubility of detergent.
4.It is the diluent of dyes and the auxiliary agent of dyeing and printing.
5.In the chemical industry, sodium sulfate is used as raw material for the manufacture of sodium sulfide, gypsum, sodium silicate and other chemical products.
6.Mirabilite is used as a purgative in medicine. Sodium sulfate is an antidote to barium and lead poisoning.
