Originally from China, the chashaku spatula has been designed specifically as the traditional tool for measuring out matcha. With a shallower bowl than a regular spoon, it functions more as a scoop, and gives you better control over how much matcha you're adding to your bowl. (One scoop equates to about a third of a teaspoon.)
