Description: Afoxolaner is an orally active isoxazoline insecticide/acaricide against the shoulder lizard. Afoxolaner acts on γ-aminobutyric acid receptors (GABA) and glutamate receptors in insects, inhibiting GABA and glutamate regulated chloride ions absorption, leading to excessive neuronal stimulation and arthropod death.

A single oral dose of alforanide (2.5mg/kg), close to the minimal effective dose, eliminated preexisting scapula tick infection and controlled weekly reinfection, with recorded efficacy between 98% and 100% until day 23 and between 94% at day 30 .
