Introduction:
ferrous sulfate (green vitriol), commonly known as green alum, is an inorganic compound with the formula FeSO4·7H2O. Mainly used in the manufacture of iron salt, ink, magnetic iron oxide, water purification agent, disinfectant, iron catalyst; It is used as coal dye, tanning agent, bleaching agent, wood preservative and compound fertilizer additive, and processing ferrous sulfate monohydrate.
Heptahydrate ferrous sulfate can be divided into two tyes:dry and non dry,they have different purity and application.
Application:
1. Water treatment. Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is used in the flocculation purification of water, as well as the removal of phosphate from municipal and industrial wastewater to prevent eutrophication of water bodies.
2. Restorative. A large amount of ferrous sulfate is used as a restorative, primarily to restore chromate in cement.
3. Medicinal use. Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is used to treat iron deficiency anemia; It is also used to add iron to food, and long-term excessive use may cause side effects such as abdominal pain and aversion. It can also be used as a partial astringent and agent in medicine and can be used for slow blood loss.
4. Colorant. Ferrous sulfate is used in the production of iron tannate inks and other inks. Mordant for wood dyeing also contains ferrous sulfate; Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate can be used to stain concrete yellow rust color; Woodworkers use ferrous sulfate to tint maple with silver.
