Chitosan oligosaccharide is an oligomer of chitosan, and it is made through the decomposition of
chitosan. The average molecular weight of chitosan oligosaccharide is less than 5,000 Da.
Chitosan oligosaccharide has better water solubility than Chitosan. It is yellow powder with molecular
formula of C12H24N2O9 and CAS number of 148411-57-8.
Production process of chitosan oligosaccharide includes, dissolving chitosan in diluted hydrochloric
acid solvent, controling the PH value between 5.0 and 5.5, enzymolyzing with cellulase and papain
under 50ºC temperature, filtering, concentrating, spray drying, sieving and getting chitosan
oligosaccharide powder.
