This new modern residential home located in Decatur, Georgia features a minimalist architectural design well-suited for the region's climate. Decatur experiences hot, humid summers and mild winters, making an open floor plan and ample natural light important aspects of the design.
The house utilizes slimline windows and accordion glass doors to bring the outdoors in and take advantage of views over the landscaped yard. Materials like concrete, aluminum, and cedar were chosen for their durability in heat and rain. Broad overhangs provide sun and rain protection while maintaining the clean lines of the structure.

A focal point of the project is the custom-made aluminum pivot door that serves as the grand entrance. Pivot doors are gaining popularity for high-end residential properties as they allow for a much larger opening than a traditional swinging door.
The door's modern thermal break aluminum frame was designed and fabricated by Doorwin to integrate with the minimalist aesthetic seamlessly. Measuring 8 feet tall, the pivot door completely opens the entryway and blurs the line between inside and outside space. Handles were custom-designed to coordinate with the minimal exterior's clean lines-here, a long steel pull in a matte black finish to match surrounding steel accents without detracting from the door's visual lightness. Horizontal rectangular panes of decorative glass woven strategically into the top third bring added privacy and brightness.
