The advantages and disadvantages of permanent magnet brake
A permanent magnet brake is installed on the stepping motor. Compared with the most commonly used power-off brakes, compared with spring brakes, the characteristics of permanent magnet brakes are as follows:
Brake Spec: 24VDC, 15W, 6N.M
1. Low noise.
Permanent magnet brakes have no friction noise when energized, but spring brakes often have friction noise when energized.
2. Low heat.
The power consumption of permanent magnet brakes is about 3W when energized, while the general power consumption of spring brakes is about 10W.
3. Braking torque is large.
The standard braking force of the permanent magnet brake for 57 stepping motor is 1.6NM, while the standard braking force of the spring type brake of 60 flange size is 0.6NM. Increasing the braking torque requires correspondingly increasing the spring type. The power consumption of the brake reduces the service life of the spring brake.
4. Small size.
The minimum size of permanent magnet brakes can be 28mm flange size, while it is difficult for spring brakes to achieve such a small size brake
5. Quick response.
The response time of permanent magnet brake is 30-50ms, which is about 1/10 of the response time of ordinary spring brake.
6. Long life.
Fully realize high-speed, zero-loss and silent operation, and can achieve long life.
7. High performance and low cost.
8. The braking force of the permanent magnet brake can be linearly adjusted by the working voltage, but because of this feature, the brake driving voltage is required to be fully opened or braked at ±10% of the rated voltage.
