Rolling mill block is one of the important parts of rolling mill, they directly bears the working rolls or backup rolls load.
The rolling force is transferred to the chock through the bearing, so whether the rolling mill block structure of the rolling mill is reasonable and whether the accuracy meets the requirements will have an important influence on the service life of bearing and the safe operation of rolling mill.

Load Distribution:

Maintenance and Repair:

Material and Manufacturing:

Original chocks are typically manufactured from cast steel or gray cast iron, with carbon content ranging from 0.2% to 0.3%. Minor welding repairs are possible for cast iron chocks, but major repairs are not feasible due to the extensive welding material required

Stress Analysis and Optimization:

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is used to analyze the stress distribution within chocks, which helps in optimizing their design for improved service life and load-bearing capacity. Studies have shown that chocks made from certain materials, such as CA6NM, can produce significantly less deformation and equivalent stress compared to those made from gray cast iron

The roll load, which is the force applied by the rolls, can be calculated using established theories like the T-selikov theory. This calculation is essential for determining the strength requirements of the chock and ensuring its ability to handle the forces exerted during rolling
