Description
The Minlon family of mineral and mineral/glass-reinforced nylon resins offers a unique balance of properties that allows designers to optimize strength and rigidity, while minimizing the effects of warpage.Mineral-reinforced resins for automotive wheel covers feature an excellent surface for painting, together with easy flow, fast cycle times and high impact strength.
For under-hood applications such as engine styling covers, where a combination of low warpage and excellent surface finish is required, a range of mineral or mineral/glass-reinforced resins, have been developed. Even for the most demanding under-hood applications, Minlon grades featuring a specially developed glass and mineral combination and a nylon 6,6 matrix provide the ultimate combination of strength, stiffness and creep resistance at elevated temperatures. Resistance to hot oil and hot air aging, combined with precision molding and low warpage are additional benefits provided by Minlon.
Minlon provides excellent chemical resistance and retention of properties at high temperatures, while enhancing stiffness, strength, and warp resistance.
Minlon reinforced nylon exhibits better dimensional stability and creep resistance than unreinforced nylon, and lower warpage than glass-reinforced nylon.
Minlon reinforced nylon resin is a "workhorse" polymer commonly used in big industrial parts and demanding automobile applications. It can be processed readily in conventional thermoplastic molding equipment, providing versatility and potential efficiency. Minlon has been widely tested and proven for a wide range of applications.
