Carbon black, also known as pigment black 7, is an amorphous carbon. Light, loose and very fine black powder with a very large surface area ranging from 10-3000m2/g, it is the product of incomplete combustion or thermal decomposition of carbon-containing substances (coal, natural gas, heavy oil, fuel oil, etc.) in conditions of insufficient air.
Carbon black exists in the form of colloidal primary particles and aggregates that resemble spheres. It is generally processed (granulated) into granular products with a diameter of 1 to 2 mm. It is also available in powder form, with different processing techniques and different appearances.
