Product Description:
This herbaceous plant is not only used to produce beer! With all due respect to zythologists (« beer oenologists », experts in brewing and taste tuning), it is also used in phytotherapy. Its female flowers (especially the cones) are covered with an odorous, powdery substance called lupulin, which gives beer its bitterness, but above all it is said to have calming properties that promote sleep.
Rich in flavonoids (rutoside, astragaloside, chalcones and quercitroside), the plant also contains an essence composed of monoterpenes, monoterpenols and sesquiterpenes.
Hops is particularly indicated in the fight against menopausal disorders, especially in the case of hot flushes. It has oestrogen-like properties, thanks in particular to the presence of 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN), known for its powerful oestrogenic action. 8-PN is in fact the most powerful phytoestrogen known to date. Hops also provide 6-prenylnaringene, xanthohumol and isoxanthohumol. The latter is a weak phytoestrogenic molecule but is bio-activated by 8-PN with the help of microbiota. Hops also have sedative and analgesic properties.
