[Active Ingredients] Iodine

[Presentation] Deep brown-red colored solution.

[Pharmacology] Povidone iodine releases its iodine slowly, iodine rapidly penetrates into microorganisms and oxidizes key proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, eventually leading to cell death, it has a broad antimicrobial spectrum with activity against bacteria viruses and fungi.

[Indications] Povidone iodine is used on surgical site disinfection, skin and mucous membranes antisepsis.

[Usage and Dosage] Calculated as povidone-iodine. Skin disinfection, 5% solution; teat dip, 5% to 10% solution; mucous membranes and wound irrigation, 0.1% solution.

[Adverse reactions] No side effects are to be expected when the prescribed dosage regimen is followed.

[Precautions] (1) Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to iodine.
                      (2) When the solution becomes white or light yellow, it loses its disinfection activity.
                      (3) It must not be mixed with mercury-based drug.

[Withdrawal period] Nil.
