Filtering with Silica Mesh Casting Filter is a highly effective method for eliminating inclusions and slag from various metals like steel, copper-based metal alloys, aluminium , gray, malleable, white, compacted graphite, and ductile cast iron. These filters can withstand the intense pouring temperatures up to 1650C.deg (3000F). The specially designed filter shapes work to trap inclusions and reduce turbulence throughout the casting process. As molten metal contacts the filter, the surface fibers develop a sticky fayalite layer, enabling the mesh to efficiently remove micron-sized inclusions from start to finish.
Silica Mesh Filtration offers a cost-effective solution for extracting dross, slag, refractory particles, and nonmetallic inclusions, thereby reducing casting waste by a remarkable 50~60%.
Features:
In the realm of metal filtration, Silica Mesh Filters provide unique advantages over ceramic foam and cellular filters, including:
*Optimal results with Hot Topping - easily removable post-pour, ensuring no metal flow restrictions during Hot Topping's exothermic action.
*No need for custom pour cones - ceramic foam or cellular filters often require custom cones with a ledge for filter placement.
*Compatible with any standard pour cone without modification.
*No pre-heating necessary - unlike ceramic foam or cellular filters, silica mesh filters can be positioned in the pouring cone right before the pour.
Specifications:
Standard Mesh Sizes: 1.5×1.5, 2.0×2.0, 2.5×2.5mm
Diverse flat sheets and pressed shapes are available and can be customized to order.
P.S: Our maximum sheet size is: 900×1,050mm
Usage Method:
Cut the filter to the required size and install it into the gating system or directly beneath the pouring gate between the bottom and top moulding boxes of a mould.
Remarks: Ensure the cut silica mesh sizes are 20~30mm larger than the material pouring gate to guarantee optimal performance.
