PHARMACOKINETICS
According to foreign clinical studies data, valsartan was rapidly absorbed after oral administration and the absolute bioavailability was 25%. A 46% decrease in the absorption rate was observed when the drug was taken after meals but no significant decrease of clinical effects was observed, so the drug can be taken without regard to meals. Its peak plasma concentration is attained within 2 to 3 hours and its elimination half-life is 6 to 7 hours, the binding of valsartan to human plasma proteins ranged from 94% to 97%. Take valsartan once daily, valsartan plasma concentration reaches to steady state three days later. Valsartan is metabolized as unchanged drug, mainly excreted (about 70%) by biliary tracts, and others is excreted by the kidney.
