BK-500A is an organoclay (tetraallkyl ammonium bentonite) for solvent-based systems of low to medium polarity.

BK-500A belongs to the unconventional type of organoclays group, being an easy-to-disperse, self-activated organoclay, BK-500A does not require a chemical (polar) activator to reach the proper level of delamination of the organoclay platelet stacks.
However, in order to improve dispersing property and thickening property,high speed shear and polar activator will be required.
Polar Activator: Dosage of polar activator (such as 95%ethanol, 95%methanol, 95%acetone or propylene carbonate)is 33% by weight of BK-500A.
5. Recommended Levels:
The amount of BK-500A rheology modifier required depends upon the type of organic system and the degree of thickening or other properties desired. Addition levels are typically between 0.2%-2.0% based on the total formulation weight.
