Belt sway switch is also known as Run Off Switch. It allows smooth running of the conveyor and protects it from damages by over swaying which can occur due to uneven loading of material, worn out idler roller bearings, etc.
Belt Sway Switch Working Principle
- Belt Sway Switch has two-step switching points: one step is for Alarm (belt running but need check), another step is for Fault (Belt stop).
- When the belt is running, it may sway and touches the roller lever. If the roller lever is pushed by the swaying belt and reaches an angle of 20°, the first step switch of the Alarm will be active; if reaches an angle of 35°, the second step switch of Fault will be active. When the belt runs correctly once more, the misalignment switch will reset automatically. Max. The roller lever can be pushed to a 75°angle.
- After the fault clearing, the belt departs from the vertical roll and operates normally, the roll may reset automatically.
- The Belt Sway Switch is constructed with high-reliability microswitches, lubricate fewer ball bearings, a touch roller which is titled to 75, and other parts; its functions are designed with a large margin for sure action and long life
Operation :
For normal running of the belt with acceptable swaying, the belt-sway switch is generally mounted on both sides and near the edge of the conveyor belt. A small clearance is allowed between contact roller and the belt edge to allow the normal running of the belt with acceptable swaying. When swaying exceeds normal limit, the belt edge pushes the contact roller, which drives the switch and operates the contacts. The switch reset automatically when the belt resumes normal running.
