What is Thiazolyl Blue Red CAS 298-93-1?

Thiazolyl Blue (MTT, Tetrazolium bromide, Methylthiazolyldiphenyl tetrazolium bromide, Methylthiazole Tetrazolium) is a cell permeable and positively charged colorimetric agent widely used to detect reduction metabolism in cells and measure cell proliferation, cytotoxicity, and apoptosis. Thiazolyl Blue (MTT) will be reduced from yellow to purple in living cells.

Function of Thiazolyl Blue CAS 298-93-1

Thiazolyl Blue is mainly used for fluorescent probes, DNA dyes, and other applications. It can emit light through specific binding with G-C base pairs in DNA, and is used in laboratory technologies such as DNA gel electrophoresis and PCR amplification.
