| Functions and indications | 1. Hyperlipidemia: (1) When diet therapy and other non-drug treatments are not effective, simvastatin can be used to reduce total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia. Simvastatin can also increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and therefore reduce the ratio of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and total cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. (2) In patients with combined hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia, and hypercholesterolemia is the main abnormality, reduce elevated cholesterol levels. 2. Coronary heart disease. For patients with coronary heart disease, simvastatin is used for: (1) Reduce the risk of death. (2) Reduce the risk of death from coronary heart disease and non-fatal myocardial infarction. (3) Reduce the risk of stroke and transient ischemia. (4) Reduce the risk of myocardial recanalization (coronary artery bypass graft and percutaneous balloon coronary angioplasty). (5) Delay the progression of atherosclerosis, including the occurrence of new lesions and total blockage. |
