Epoxy resins are linear or branched polymers with epoxy groups at both ends and aryl, alkyl, hydroxyl and ether bonds on the main chain. Epoxy and hydroxyl groups can react functional groups and can provide good connectivity. Ether bonds can provide good chemical resistance, aryl groups can provide good high temperature resistance and rigidity, and methyl groups can provide good flexibility.
Resins that contain two or more epoxy groups in their molecular structure are collectively referred to as epoxy resins. The epoxy group is a ring composed of one oxygen atom and two carbon atoms and is highly active.
Epoxy resins can be cured with aliphatic polyamines or polyamides at room temperature. At high temperatures, it can be cured with anhydride, carboxylic acid, aromatic amine, phenolic resin or amino resin. Cured epoxy resin has good physical and chemical properties, because it is widely used in coating, ink, adhesive, casting, impregnation, laminate and other industries.
