Slewing drive
1. Introduction of slewing drive
Slewing drive is also called slewing gear, worm gear, worm drive, rotary drive axle, rotary drive vice, slew drive, worm gear reducer and rotary drive unit, however, slewing drive is called commonly.
Slewing drive is consisted of slewing bearing, worm shaft, housing, bearing, motor and so on. Motor drive the worm shaft, the outer ring of slewing bearing will rotate, the outer ring output the torque through flange while the inner ring of slewing bearing is fixed in housing. Slewing drive can bear more axial load, radial load and tilting moment. Turntable or frame rotates at azimuth and elevations are driven by slewing drive. The Slewing Drive in the solar photovoltaic industry are introduced the general configuration DC planetary reduction motor or AC geared motors, and main configuration of the hydraulic motor as a power-driven construction machinery

3. Features:
1) modularization
Thanks to the high level of integration, slewing drive makes the user needn't have to assembly accessories one by one, to a certain extent, simplify the production at the beginning of the preparation process, thus greatly increase in labor productivity. And it is space-efficient, and easy to install and maintain.
2) Security
Worm gear and worm drive has the characteristics of reverse self-locking, so it can realize the effect of reverse self-locking, that is, the worm gear can only droved by the worm driver, but can not drive the worm driver. This feature makes the slewing drive can be widely used in lifting, aerial work equipment
3) Simplifying the mainframe design
Compared with the traditional gear transmission, worm gear and worm drive can get relatively larger reduction ratio. In some cases, can make host working without reducer parts, thus reduce the purchasing cost for the customer, at the same time, also greatly reduces the host malfunction rate.
4. Application:
Slewing drives are widely applied in the follow area:
1) Solar tracking: solar power systems, photovoltaic power generation systems, daily solar power systems
2) Construction machinery engineering machinery like truck cranes, and man lifts, etc, heavy-duty flat-panel truck, container cranes, truck mounted crane, automobile crane, gantry cranes
3) Aerospace area: satellite broadcasting system(satellite receiver), aerial vehicles, small space communications
Besides, they can be also applied in the fields of small-size wind power stations, welding equipment, ship and port, mining machinery, medical technology, automation equipment, CSP tracking.
