This dust cake actually aids in the filtration process by capturing smaller particles. When the pressure drop across the filter bags reaches a certain level, indicating that the dust cake is too thick, the cleaning system is activated. A pulse of compressed air is sent through the bags in the reverse direction, which knocks off the dust cake into a hopper for disposal and achieving the cleaning effect.
