Brief instruction:Flexible metal hose assemblies are a wonderful alternative to hard line Steel or Stainless Steel tube assemblies where greater flexibility is needed.Because flexible metal hose assemblies are stainless steel throughout, they meet the need for chemical and extreme temperature resistance. The corrugated core tube allows flexibility that a hard line cannot.
a corrugated stainless steel tube with external stainless braiding. It is commonly used in high temperature or highly corrosive applications where a rubber hose is not suitable. It is also popular in "permanent" piping installations and short lengths (jumper) in potable water, cooling, steam, or other liquid applications where a "rubber hose" does not provide enough flexibility or a long enough service life (ie. rubber and plastics will degrade when subject to the elements). The braiding acts as a reinforcement to increase pressure ratings and prevent elongation.

Annular corrugated metal hose
Annular hose is formed from tubing into individual parallel corrugations.
Annular corrugated metal hose is the most common and popular corrugated flexible metal hose in the world and is widely used in many industries.

Helical corrugated metal hose
Helical hose is also formed from tubing but into a continuous spiral corrugation.
Helical corrugated stainless steel butt welded hose offers exceptional flexibility at an economical cost.
Helical corrugated metal hose offer up to 30% better flow efficiency compared to annular and endures repetitious bending as stresses are dispersed over a number of corrugations rather than individual annular rings. This tubing is ideal for the majority of industrial applications.

Unless restrained, corrugated hose will elongate when subjected to increasing internal pressure. This restraint is provided by a braided covering, consisting of a tubular sheath of woven metal wires fitted tightly over the corrugated hose and secured at each end. Flexibility of the corrugated hose is not appreciably affected by this wire braid covering. In addition, the braid provides squirm support and dampens vibration. In higher pressure applications, the use of additional braid covers will provide additional working pressure. Unbraided hose is satisfactory for low pressure applications.
