Characteristics
HD-VC is the derivative from Vitamin C. It is a slight to pale yellow liquid with a faint characteristic odor. It is very soluble in ethanol , hydrocarbons, esters and vegetable oils. It is insoluble in glycerin and butylene glycol.
VC has many functions as a cosmetic ingredient including skin lightening promoting
collagen synthesis and inhibiting lipid perosidation, but VC is not stable enough.
HD-VC is much stable athigh temperatures and has good solubility in oils. HD-VC exhibits excellent percutaneous absorption and effectively converts into free VC in the skin to perform various physiological functions.
HD-VC should be added into the oil phase at temperatures below 80ºC. It can be used in formulas with a pH range of 3 to 6.
