Cartridge mechanical seals are an attempt to overcome the fitting problems of conventional seals with proven reliability, recommended by APl682 standard. Cartridge seals are self-contained units consisting of a shaft sleeve, seal, and gland plate. The unit is fitted onto the pump shaft as a built assembly, and no further setting measurements at installation is required. Cartridge seals also lower maintenance costs and reduce seal setting errors. As for cleaning and inspection, the seals can be taken out without disassembling the pump equipment.
