
Introduction to Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane
Trimethylolaminomethane, or tris base for short, is a commonly used alkaline biobuffer. Its chemical formula is C4H11NO3 and its molecular weight is 121.14 g/mol. trimethylolaminomethane is a white crystalline solid powder, soluble in water, ethanol, etc., slightly soluble in ethyl acetate, and largely insoluble in non-polar solvents such as petroleum ether and benzene.
