Glass Insulators
A glass insulator is a type of insulating component used in electrical systems to protect and insulate electrical conductors from contact with other conductors or the surrounding environment. It is made of glass and shaped like a cup, saucer, or cone. The glass is a good electrical insulator and allows the current to flow through the conductor while keeping it insulated from other conductors.
Glass insulators are commonly used on overhead power transmission lines to support and separate electrical wires from one another and from the supporting poles or towers. The glass insulator's shape and design are intended to minimize leakage current, reduce corona discharge, and provide adequate mechanical strength to withstand the weight and tension of the conductors.
