Composition:
Each soft capsule contains Vitamin A palmitate equivalent to 50000IU or 100000IU or 200000IU Vitamin A activity .
Clinical Pharmacology:
Vitamin A Soft Capsules is essential for function of the retina . In the form of retinal , it combines with opsin (red pigment in the retina) to form rhodopsin (visual purple) , which is necessary for visual adaptaion to darkness .Other forms (retinol , retinoic acid) are necessary for growth of bone ,testicular and ovarian function , and embryonic development , and for regulation of growth and differentiation of epithelial tissues .Retinol and retinoic acid may act as cofactors in biochemical reactions .
Indications and Usage:
Used to treat and prevent symptoms of Vitamin A deficiency such as xerophthalmia and night blindness .Also used to prevent complications of measles.
Vitamin A Soft Capsules is used as a dietary supplement to prevent A deficiency in patients with GI diseased and those with abnormal storage and transport of vitamin A .
Contra- Indications :
There are none within the recommended doses.
High doses above the recommented dose should not be given to pregnant and breastfeeding women .
Storage:
The capsules should be stored in light-resistant and preferably, moisture-proof containers . Store below 25ºC .
Keep out of reach of children .
