Detergent pods (or liquid or liquid detergent packets) are water-soluble packets containing concentrated detergent, fabric softener, and other laundry products. Alpina is one of the notable brands in these packages. The chemical properties of the laundry packet are the same as liquid detergents (including alkylbenzene sulfonates). Dissolvable packets are typically made from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or a PVA derivative. Although the formula is similar, the liquid in a detergent packet may contain 10% water compared to 50% in liquid detergent.
