Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) is a copolymer of ethylene and a small amount of advanced olefin in the presence of catalyst.LLDPE is similar to LDPE in appearance, with poor transparency and good surface gloss. LLDPE has the advantages of low temperature toughness, high modulus, bending resistance and stress cracking resistance, and good impact strength at low temperature.

LLDPE has penetrated most traditional markets for polyethylene, including film, molding, pipe and wire and cable. Anti-seepage mulch is a newly developed LLDPE market mulch, a large extruded sheet used as landfill and waste pond liner to prevent seepage or contamination of the surrounding area. Some film markets for LLDPE, such as bags, garbage bags, elastic packaging, industrial liners, towel liners and shopping bags, take advantage of the resin's improved strength and toughness. Transparent films, such as bread bags, have been dominated by LDPE because of its better haze.However, blends of LLDPE and LDPE will improve the strength, penetration resistance, and stiffness of LDPE films without significantly affecting film clarity. Injection molding and rotational molding are the two largest molding applications for LLDPE. The resin's superior toughness and low-temperature, impact strength are theoretically suitable for waste bins, toys and refrigerators. In addition, LLDPE's high resistance to environmental stress cracking makes it suitable for injection molded lids that come into contact with oily food, rotationally molded waste containers, fuel tanks and chemical tanks. There is a small market for applications in pipes and wire and cable coatings, where the high burst strength and environmental stress crack resistance provided by LLDPE can meet the requirements. 65%-70% of LLDPE65%-70% is used to make films.
