Molecular Sieve type 13X is a kind of alkali-metallic, silicon-aluminum compounds, it could absorb the molecule which critical diameter is not more than 9 angstroms.

Application:
- Applied in removing water, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons from feed gas in air pre-purification units prior to the cryogenic air separation;
- Removal of water, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptan and high molecular weight sulfur compounds in NGL, LPG, and liquid hydrocarbons (e.g. propane, butane);
- Deep dehydration of compressed air, instrument air and inert gas;
- Dehydration and purification of ammonia synthesis gas;
- Removal of odorous sulfur compounds from aerosol propellants;
- Removal of carbon dioxide from cracked gas;
- Used for rich oxygen generation, oxygen/nitrogen separation in PSA/VSA air separation processes;
- Production of medical oxygen in small scale oxygen concentrators.
Molecular sieve can be regenerated by either heating in the case of thermal swing processes; or by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure swing processes.
To remove moisture from a molecular sieve, a temperature of 250-300°C is required. A properly regenerated molecular sieve can give moisture dew points below -100°C, or mercaptan or CO2 levels below 2 ppmv.
The outlet concentrations on a pressure swing process will depend on the gas present, and on the conditions of the process.
