Product Description

Lufenuron powder is the active ingredient in the veterinary flea control medication Program, and one of the two active ingredients in the flea, heartworm, and anthelmintic medicine milbemycin oxime/lufenuron.

Lufenuron powder is stored in the animal's body fat and transferred to adult fleas through the host's blood when they feed. Adult fleas transfer it to their growing eggs through their blood, and to hatched larvae feeding on their excrement. It does not kill adult fleas.

  1. Agricultural Use: Primarily utilized as an insecticide in agriculture, targeting specific stages of insect development to control pest populations in crops such as fruits, vegetables, and grains.

  2. Veterinary Use: Employed in veterinary medicine to prevent and control flea and tick infestations in companion animals like dogs and cats, through disrupting their life cycles.

  3. Environmental Protection: Aids in minimizing the need for broader-spectrum pesticides, contributing to a more sustainable approach to pest management by focusing on specific insect control.

  1. Insect Growth Regulator (IGR): Acts as an IGR by inhibiting the synthesis of chitin, a key component in the exoskeleton of insects. This disruption prevents the normal molting process, ultimately leading to the death of the insect at various developmental stages.

  2. Life Cycle Disruption: By targeting insects during their larval or nymphal stages, lufenuron disrupts the normal progression of the insect's life cycle, preventing the emergence of adult pests that can reproduce and perpetuate infestations.

  3. Selective Toxicity: Demonstrates selective toxicity towards insects, minimizing harm to non-target organisms such as humans, pets, and the environment, making it a relatively safer alternative to some traditional pesticides.
