1: AISI A8 steel introduction

AISI A8 is high strength, high chromium steel engineering plastic, forging special steel, is also a kind of oil-cooled, air-cooled hardened die steel. It is suitable for high cut-off cutting and forming processing, with high wear resistance and high toughness of multi-use high alloy die steel. AISI A8 has high haedness, excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature characteristics, and common hardness range is 52-58 HRC.

  The mechanical properties mainly include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, area or reduction, hardness, impact value, non-metalic inclusion etc. Different heat treatment, the mechanical properties will be different, such as normalized, tempered, QT. 6. AISI A8 Tool Steel Heat Treatment

Tempering of A8 steels is performed at 148-315°C (300-600°F), Double tempering is recommended for tempering temperatures of 900°F and higher. Soak well at the selected temperature and soak for at least one hour per 25mm of total thickness.

7: Delivery condition
    For hot forged or hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged or rolled, annealed, rough turned.
    For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed, milled surface.

    For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed, black surface.
