Rolling machines are widely used in fastener industry to manufacture screws, bolts and tools. Wire rolling is a cold forming operation, which is only suitable for external threads in blanks. The thread on the blank is pressed by the thread rolling die installed on the thread rolling machine. Penetration rolling is usually used to roll threads that exceed the maximum width of the die. Ring die is the most commonly used straight-through rolling. The annular through-feed thread die is used to roll threads exceeding the maximum die width, and the thread form is ground into a straight ring instead of a spiral on the die.
