- In most cases you'll choose lead II, which produces the most upright ECG complex.
- For a patient with an admission diagnosis of inferior-wall myocardial infarction (MI), use lead II or III.
- To assess an anterior MI, bundle-branch block, or wide-complex tachycardia, use V1.
- Never use aVR because it doesn't look at a specific part of the heart.
- If the system lets you monitor more than one lead, use leads II and V, which probably will give the most complete information.
