Properties
Basswood plywood is made up of a number of sheets, glued together in a crosswise fashion. This guarantees strength and stability in all directions and it makes it less prone to breakage than solid wood. Basswood plywood does have a main grain direction. The thinner sheets of 3 mm are stiffer along that line. The internal layers contain few knots, which adds to the beautiful appearance of these sheets. Basswood naturally has a light colour, with a subtle and even grain structure.
Applications
Basswood plywood is used for many applications, among which decorative objects, furniture, and art projects. Because it is lightweight and smooth, it is also an ideal choice for precision work, such as model building or musical instruments. The beautiful, almost knot-free layers also make it suitable for decorative panels and interior finishing.
