Moxidectin is a semi-synthetic single-component macrolide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces fermentation, and is a derivative of nimocotin. Macrolide antiparasitic drugs are composed of two Chemicalbook categories, namely avermectins and mibemycins. Compared with ivermectin and abamectin, moxidectin has broader insect repellent activity, long-term effect and safety.

Function
Moxidectin began to be used as a veterinary insect repellent. As a new generation of anthelmintic drugs, Moxidectin can effectively kill nematodes and body parasites, and at the same time has good safety for animals. It is superior to ivermectin in terms of medication dosage, dosage form development, drug resistance and drug distribution in the body.
Application
1. Dogs
Prevention of heartworm. In combination with imidacloprid to treat sarcoptic mange.
2. Horses
Treatment of parasites including Strongylus vulgaris, and stomach bots such as Gasterophilus intestinalis.
3. Cattle
Treatment of parasites such as the gastrointestinal nematode Ostertagia ostertagi, and the lungworm Dictyocaulus viviparus.
4. Sheep
Treatment of the nematodes Teladorsagia circumcincta and Haemonchus contortus.
Moxidectin can develop cross-resistance between moxidectin and other similar parasiticides, such as ivermectin, doramectin and abamectin.
