Sucker rod centralizers or rod guides keep the rod and couplings away from the tubing to eliminate the internal tubing wear, also can keep paraffin off the tubing as paraffin scrapers. Sucker rod guides minimize costly metal-to-metal contact between sucker rods and tubing. Even when the tubing buckles during upstrokes, the guides help prevent contact between the rods and tubing.
