This state-of-the-art material is produced using advanced acupuncture or suture methods, forming a composite impervious barrier. When water interacts with the GCL, it initiates the formation of a uniform, dense colloidal waterproof layer, effectively preventing water leakage. To enhance waterproof capabilities for various projects, it can be paired with an HDPE liner. Bentonite's remarkable water expansion properties are showcased as calcium base bentonite expands marginally, while sodium base bentonite swells to an impressive 15 to 17 times its original volume upon water adsorption. The interlocking geotextile and nonwoven fabric secure the sodium base bentonite between dual geosynthetic layers, offering additional protection and strength, thereby endowing the GCL with reliable overall shear strength.
