Stability | It is relatively stable at room temperature and pressure, but it will depolymerize to form acetaldehyde when heated. Metaldehyde will decompose into acetaldehyde in the presence of acid, and treatment in an alkaline medium can improve its thermal stability. |

Application:
Metaldehyde is mainly used to control snails and slugs in vegetable fields. It destroys the acetylcholinesterase system in the pests, causing nerve paralysis, decreased mobility, and eventually poisoning and death.
Application method
Farmers often use broadcasting for prevention and control. It is recommended to use 500-1000 grams of 6% metaldehyde granules per mu of land, and the dosage can be adjusted appropriately according to the degree of damage caused by snails and slugs. The granules can be mixed evenly with fine soil or fine sand and then spread on the roots of crops or places where snails often appear, or cut a small hole in the package, spread around the field, and set up several drug points in the center of the field.
