Copper sulfate (Cupric sulfate) is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CuSO4. It is white or off-white powder, the aqueous solution is weak acid, blue. When crystallized from an aqueous solution, blue copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO4·5H2O, also known as alum) is produced, and this principle can be used to test the presence of water. It is stable at room temperature and pressure after losing water of crystallization
