Glycerol, also known as glycerin, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H8O3. It is a colorless and odorless transparent viscous liquid that can absorb moisture from the air, as well as hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide and sulfur dioxide. It is miscible with water, alcohols, amines and phenols in any proportion, and insoluble in benzene, carbon disulfide, petroleum ether and oils. Industrial use
